Student & Parent Benefits

Every student will use a laptop and have access to the resources needed for each course throughout their time at Peace. Students will be able to operate in a wireless environment with the ability to use this technology at school and at home, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The equipment comes with various academic software including: the Adobe Digital School Collection, VitalSource, Microsoft Office Professional, Outlook and e-texts.

Undoubtedly, the single most powerful educational shift is the use and integration of computer technologies for instruction and application which demands reorganizing the culture of learning. This technology program will provide teachers with the opportunities to empower students to think more critically, solve real-life problems, master information and communication literacies and promote global awareness and interaction. Students will acquire new sets of literacy skills that will allow them to locate information, sort it, and most importantly, determine the reliability of sources. New channels for parent-school, student-student, and teacher-student communication will become available. This program will give parents a direct communication channel and access to all the learning tools. Students succeed when parents are actively engaged in their academic lives.

For Students:

  • Improved equity of access to technology
  • Improved quality of learning
  • Support of best practices in technology integration
  • Improved student learning of content
  • Increased performance on standardized tests
  • Improved student ability to become life-long learners
  • Better preparation for the work world
  • Knowledge regarding how to be an ethical technology user

For Parents:

So often we misunderstand, misinterpret, or just miss what was said. We’re all guilty of this at some time or another! Nevertheless, communication is the key to success in any life’s work. It is especially critical at the school level when parents, students, and teachers need to work in conjunction with each other to have a successful educational experience. To achieve a better degree of clear, direct communication, we have implemented Edline, a web hosting and portal solution that allows parent-teacher relationships to prosper by keeping parents updated on their daughter’s grades, homework assignments, teacher pages, and school activities throughout the year. Parents and students are issued separate passwords that provide instant and secure information. The objective: to allow parents the opportunity to become even more active participants in their daughter’s educational endeavors.
