Service

Service Learning is a method through which students learn and develop by actively participating in thoughtfully organized service experiences. It is a blending of both service and learning goals in such a way that both occur and are enriched by each other.

As an outgrowth of the Queen of Peace Mission statement, "to promote dedication to service," each student will complete a minimum of 60 hours of community service as part of her graduation requirement.
Service hours can be completed individually or through team-, club- or class-sponsored projects. Students are encouraged to complete their community service requirements by the end of their junior year.

Goals of the Service Learning Program:

  • To guide each student as she identifies and explores her talents and interests while in search of a volunteer site
  • To encourage each student to develop attitudes and skills to work with others
  • To enhance each student’s feelings of self-worth that come from making a contribution
  • To encourage each student to meet and accept new challenges
  • To deepen each student’s understanding of the Christian call to service

Why Peace Matters

As the leading Catholic Dominican high school in the nation for women, Queen of Peace challenges young women to think critically and use their voices for positive change. When you invest in Peace, you invest in the next generation of leaders.
