In Partnership with Ten Thousand Villages

On behalf of the Queen of Peace Community, we thank you for your commitment to fair trade. By attending the bazaar, making purchases, attending workshops, and becoming involved in global issues, you have demonstrated your own commitment to the Sinsinawa Dominican values of justice, compassion, truth, partnership and community. We are grateful for your partnership and hope you will continue to support and partner with Peace as we continue to work for justice. We encourage you to visit Ten Thousand Villages in Evanston for more purchases.

Thank you to Ten Thousand Villages, specifically Vincent and Susanne Donoghue, who have been instrumental in coordinating, organizing, and co-sponsoring this Fair Trade Bazaar. We look forward to many more fair trade collaborations. Ten Thousand Villages, Evanston: 719 Main Street, Evanston, IL 60202 Phone: 847-733-8258

Ten Thousand Villages in Evanston, IL, is a fair trade retailer of artisan-crafted home decor, personal accessories and gift items from across the globe. Featuring products from more than 130 artisan groups in some 36 countries, Ten Thousand Villages is part of a network of more than 150 retail outlets throughout the United States selling Ten Thousand Villages products. As one of the world’s oldest and largest fair trade organizations, Ten Thousand Villages has spent more than 60 years cultivating trading relationships in which artisans receive a fair price for their work and consumers have access to distinctive handcrafted items.

Thank you, as well, to the vendors who have given their time and efforts to be present and participate in this event. We could not have done it without you. We encourage all shoppers and attendees who want to know more to visit vendor stores, websites, and ask them for their contact information.

Finally, thank you to all shoppers and the parents, students, teachers, and friends of Peace who have given their time and talents: volunteering to unload, pack, and re-pack trucks; manage concessions; help shoppers; and participate in Peace’s first annual Fair Trade Bazaar.

Fair Trade refers to product distribution systems which are designed to assure that farmers and artisans in developing countries receive a fair price for their products – as opposed to the usual global distribution system where most of the profits go to wholesalers and distributors. Fair Trade cooperatives formed in developing countries to bring individual artisans and farmers together, accumulate their produce and products, and distribute them by charging only what is necessary to get the product to market.
