Current Initiatives
The generous support of alumnae, parents, friends, businesses and foundations provide the truly innovative and transformative educational experiences offered to students attending Peace. Together, we continue to advance the standard of education for young women in our society by offering an exceptional faith and values-based education in a dynamic, cutting-edge learning environment. Advanced curriculum design, instructional methods and technology integration underlie a broad selection of math, science, engineering, fine arts and language course offerings. A rich array of clubs, athletics and service opportunities enhance a holistic educational experience that opens hearts, minds and doors to bright and promising futures. In four short years Peace students master the problem-solving, collaboration and communication skills they need to lead and succeed in our increasingly complex and global society. We are deeply grateful to our donors for making the following initiatives possible:
1:1 Wireless Teaching and Learning Environment
Individual Laptops, Classroom Projectors and Wireless Campus – provide an expansive, dynamic and technology-driven teaching and learning environment that broadens and deepens Peace’s 21st century curriculum. Individual learning and success is achieved through seamless integration of advanced instructional methods and technologies that are customized for each student’s interests and needs.
Arts and Cultural Experiences
Art Courses and Arts Without Borders Program – provide an array of fine arts, dance, digital arts and drama courses, as well as field experiences. Arts Without Borders is a curriculum-based enrichment program that offers students visual, performing arts and cultural visits within the Chicago metropolitan area. These art related experiences deepen students’ abilities to explore and understand alternative forms of human expression and help them become well-rounded adults.
Integrated Math, Science and Technology Experiences
Pre-Engineering, Physics, Biology, Chemistry and Math Courses, and Robotics – prepare students for careers in engineering, science and technology related fields. Math and science concepts are linked to technologies that interest today’s students such as the Internet, cell phones, digital cameras and electronic imaging. Students on Peace’s Robotics Team build and operate robots and enter the annual For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology (FIRST) competition for high school teams throughout the nation.
Global Language Opportunities
Mandarin Chinese, French and Spanish – three world languages create connection, communication and understanding of diverse peoples, lands and cultures. Mandarin Chinese, the fastest growing language, is offered in a virtual learning environment via videoconferencing capabilities that link Peace with other Catholic schools.
Virtual Learning Experiences
Peace Media Center – offers videoconferencing which overcomes the limitations of time and distance to create digital global classroom experiences for Peace students. Videoconferencing capabilities allow multi-media presentations, virtual field trips, historical travel, online classes and a multitude of other virtual learning and communication opportunities.
