Playing with Pride
With eight sports programs and 20 teams comprised of all levels – frosh, junior varsity and varsity – over 40 percent of Peace’s students participate in athletics. On the court, field or track, Peace student-athletes find their niche and develop new athletic skills and learn perseverance, dedication, self-discipline, teamwork and leadership. Try-outs are held each season according to the Illinois High School Association’s (IHSA) calendar, and students are placed on appropriate level teams.
Peace competes and is consistently ranked in the highly regarded Red Division of the Girls Catholic Athletic Conference (GCAC) and is a member of the IHSA. In 2009-10, Peace student-athletes earned a combined GPA of 3.28. Eighteen varsity athletes in eight sports were named All-Conference selections, and 78 were members of the GCAC All-Academic Team, a recognition received for maintaining a 3.0 GPA during each student’s competitive season. Peace student-athletes also benefit from weekly grade eligibility evaluations, quality facilities and experienced coaches, as well as an extensive summer camp and conditioning programs.
Whether you hope to hit the winning home run or set a personal record in the backstroke, Peace will help you discover and pursue your passion and talents.
