Burbank Sertoma Awards Scholarship

Peace Student Recieves Sertoma Scholarship

Burbank, IL – May 13, 2008 – On May 6, the Burbank Sertoma Club presented Queen of Peace High School senior Edyta Frankiewicz with a $500 scholarship to be directed toward post-secondary study at Benedictine University.

Edyta plans to begin her studies at Benedictine University in the fall. In keeping with the Burbank Sertoma’s focus, Edyta wants to become an optometrist. She currently works at Complete Vision Care as an optometrist assistant, helping patients and acting as a Polish translator. She also provides translation services to elderly residents and helps them understand their medical prescriptions. At Peace, Edyta is ranked 55 out of 168 and has a 3.38 GPA.

As a service organization, the Sertoma Club helps individuals with developmental, physical, emotional and mental disabilities who rely on help from others daily. The Sertoma Club of Burbank, in particular, focuses on speech and language issues and serving the hearing impaired and deaf community.
