Peace Puts on Santa Hats for Others

Burbank, IL – December 17, 2007 – For the 33rd consecutive year, Queen of Peace students, parents, faculty, staff and friends “adopted” families from the St. James parish in Chicago. Staff members at St. James chose the families most in need, and the Peace community worked together to provide the goods needed to help make their Christmas celebrations a bit merrier. Peace’s student council rallied students to purchase, donate, collect, and wrap as many toys, nonperishable food items, and clothing for the families of the parish as possible. Council members packed the gifts and delivered them to the parish on Dec. 7. Pictured here from left: Carla Villarreal, Jesseca Rhymes and Julie Dorken, members of the student council, who worked tirelessly this holiday season to motivate and encourage student participation in the St. James Project. Queen of Peace is dedicated to service learning and inspiring a passion for peace and justice in its students.
