Chicago Food Depository Trip

Peace Students Don Masks & Aprons to Help Others

Burbank, IL – January 30, 2008 –Although the holidays are over, Peace students still find ways to volunteer their time and efforts to help others in need. Members of the Poverty and Hunger Task Force at Peace resumed their monthly trips to the Greater Chicago Food Depository. When students arrive at the depository, they help re-package food that has been donated from businesses. This food will be distributed to various food pantries and shelters in the Chicagoland area. “This is the third year the task force has worked at the depository, and it is very gratifying to feel that we are helping others,” noted Judy Zitlow, co-moderator of the Poverty and Hunger Task Force. Seniors Bianca Rojas(left) and Natalie Schick, both members of the Poverty and Hunger Task Force, log many service hours at the depository. Here they are cleaning and packaging food products that will be distributed to shelters.
